NECCS’ History

The New England Coalition for Cancer Survivorshop (NECCS) began in 1995 in affiliation with The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS). Following a change in NCCS fee and membership structure, NECCS incorporated on December 4, 1997 and obtained its own non-profit designation.

The New England Coalition for Cancer Survivorship followed on the original foundation set by NCCS - to establish an organization that would change the view of people with cancer from cancer "victim" to cancer "survivor", and to be an organization that would deal with the full spectrum of survivorship issues related to living with, through and beyond a cancer diagnosis

To this end, NECCS continues to work with NCCS, as well as other health cancer related organizations throughout New England. We provide educational programs and conferences, advocate on the issues pertinent to cancer patients/survivors and we are now striving to build a community of cancer survivors.

NECCS is also part of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition and the Conquer Cancer Coalition of Massachusetts.
